Why is it dangerous to throw an aerosol can in fire?

When a gas is kept at a constant volume, its pressure increases directly with temperature. When you put a can which contains a compressed gas in a source of heat such as a fire, the internal pressure will increase. If this pressure becomes greater than the container can hold, it will explode. When the container explodes, it can ter pieces of metal at high velocities which can cause injuries or worse.
