Does an STI just go away by itself after a while? and is it possible for the chlamydia drug not to work?

i last had this time last year and i was checked for chlamydia. I found out i had it and took the drugs to get rid of it but i don't think it worked as i get really bad discharge and a sore throat constantly. My glans are also always up, don't know whether this is a symptom or not. Anyway, im too embarred to go back as it was hell the first time, advice please?
