Why did you say you want a baby when you don't even want me?

I've been with a guy for nearly 3 yrs. He hasn't been the greatest of boyfriends, but I thought we were in love. He knows I'm very broody at the min and that I'd love a child with him. I told him we'd wait until he's ready and that was ok. Today he texted me saying 'please have a baby with me, its well overdue, I love you to bits and want a family'. I was over the moon cos its all I've wanted for a long long time. I asked him if he was sure and that I would still wait if he wasn't ready. But he said yes, he was ready and wanted to move in and start a family. One hour later I get a phone call. He was drunk and wasn't saying much. He started saying he wasn't sure then hung up. I feel so hurt and pretty sad tbh. In one day I got everything I ever wanted then had it taken away from me. I don't know what to do. He's constantly hurting me - I think he enjoys it.
