Yoshi's Story ROM not working?

I downloaded a Yoshi's Story ROM for the Project 64 emulator, but Yoshi can't do a ground pound for some reason. I also get the screen glitching when I move, but that doesn't affect the gameplay all that much. Just that I can't use the ground pound to get past the Pack E. Derm is what's bugging me
